I used an Arduino Micro controller to record the infrared signal sent from my video cameras remote control snapshot button. An auxiliary infrared led connected to the Arduino is then programmed to send the snapshot signal to the video camera at timed intervals.
This bike was built for burning man. I wanted a functional yet unique bike. They earth at burning man in known as playa so I call this platypus bike the playapus. It's a single speed mountain bike.
Using an Arduino Microcontroller to operate a bipolar stepper motor, I also used a L293D H-bridge chip with the Arduino to make it function. The plastic army guy is mounted on the motor shaft to make the motors movements easy to see.
My homemade bicycle spoke lights, retrofit L.E.D. exit sign lamps to run off of 6 volts D.C. Then I cast the L.E.D.'s in a mold. I drive the spoke lights with a 4AA battery pack and they last around 30hrs.
